Falcon Valley Storm Drainage Design

We completed a study which analyzed the entire 420 acre Falcon Valley drainage basin and determined the best locations to meet the City of Lenexa’s detention requirements. The site already had 3 existing lakes onsite. We chose to utilize two of these lakes by modifying them for detention and creating a third basin. This approach allowed us to create regional detention basins for the site which more efficiently used the space allocated for detention and will allow easier development of the various phases of the development. The basin has many discharge points and it wasn’t feasible to detain every discharge location. The three basins were oversized to account for the runoff that left the site undetained. Pondpack software for the analysis. TR-55 was the methodology used to analyze the runoff and the storage indication method was used to route the storm through the detention basins.
